Marion Imagination Library Make a donation to the Marion Imagination Library Fund, which should be directed to the Marion Community Foundation, 504 South State Street, Marion, Ohio 43302. Your gift will help put one book per month in the hands of Marion County children aged 0 to under 5. This early childhood literacy initiative would not be possible without local agencies, Ohio Governor’s Imagination Library, and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Endowment Fund Did you know Marion Public Library has an Endowment Fund? Donating to the Marion Public Library Endowment Fund via Marion Community Foundation supports the print and digital collections, and children, teen, and adult programs at Marion Public Library. Let’s Read 20 Making a donation to Let’s Read 20 Endowment Fund via Marion Community Foundation. Your contribution will go towards building a community of readers in Marion County. Let’s Read 20 encourages everyone to read to a November and the thought of giving thanks has come around at lightning speed this year. As the months roll by, we reflect on the many things we are thankful for in 2024: > for our brilliant, diverse, talented staff. They don’t always get the accolades they deserve so please join me in applauding their daily attentiveness to your needs. > for the various programs that have been shared through the Library to foster lifelong learning opportunities > for all of the author events this past year and the opportunities for the community to come face-to-face with authors from all walks of life, both local and nationally recognized. > for access to knowledge and resources through the collections of our library for all, regardless of income. > for a safe and welcoming space for different age groups, babies, families, teens, adults, and seniors. Finding comfort and security in the presence of like-minded individuals. > for many Library volunteers who share a passion for our purpose and continue to give their time in so many ways. Your used books are evaluated and in some cases added to Marion Public Library collections and in others sold during the annual book sale. Drop off books anytime the Marion Public Library is open. BookMarks Friends of Marion Public Library Becoming a member of, or making a donation to, The BookMarks. The BookMarks are a group of volunteers who support Marion Public Library’s services, programs, and facilities through events, the BookMarket, and the annual book sale. The BookMarks are exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Federal Internal Revenue Code. Shop Used Books Shopping at the BookMarket located in Marion Public Library. If so, consider Paying It Forward for a child still in the program or to be born into the program in future years. If you are interested in ensuring the program is everlasting, a contribution of $130 will cover the cost of a child getting 60 books for five years. A contribution of $26 will cover the cost of a child getting 12 books for one full year. SPEAKING VOLUMES WITH SMILEY Author Jane Smiley delights fundraiser attendees The BookMarks and Marion Public Library hosted author Jane Smiley for their annual Speaking Volumes event the evening of Friday, October 18. Just over 90 participants were able to hear author Smiley talk about her journey to becoming a published author, and the process of writing her many books, including her new release Lucky. The BookMarks and Marion Public Library couldn’t have had a successful event without the support of the community. We thank these community organizations and individuals who sponsored the event. All proceeds ultimately support the operations, programs, and services of Marion Public Library.

Applications are being accepted for volunteer workers for the BookMarket, a used book store inside Marion Public Library that raises funds throughout the whole year. The BookMarket is run by the BookMarks Friends of Marion Public Library volunteer group. Shoppers can find all varieties of gently used books on sale where purchases make a difference. Volunteer with a friend and spend some time in a slower paced, no stress environment.
