APRIL 2021 MarionLibrary.org/MPLUpdates Click here to place your online reserves Director's Note Gary Branson, Executive Director April 4-10, 2021 is National Library Week a time to highlight the essential role our library plays in transforming lives and strengthening communities. This year’s theme for National Library Week is “Welcome to your library,” which promotes the idea that libraries extend far beyond the four walls of a building and that everyone is welcome to use our services. Whether patrons visit virtually or in person, the Library is an accessible and inclusive place that fosters a sense of belonging and community through lifelong learning, literacy, discovery, and exploration. During these challenging times, we had to adapt and rethink how to best serve our patrons with their safety being of utmost importance. Knowing that our Library makes a difference in patron lives we have continued to provide reading materials both physically and through electronic resources. Adapting to stay connected and engaged, Marion Public Library makes services available via YouTube and facebook for storytimes, music times, reader reviews, and book discussions. The public can show their appreciation and support for MPL by following on social media and using the hashtag #NationalLibraryWeek in any posts to be included in the national campaign. As always , you can access your Marion Public Library 24/7 to search and place reserves with pick up at the front desk or by waiting just outside the front door for curbside service. Cast your VOTE on STAFF PEEPS ® dioramas. Our staff will have a book-themed Peeps® diorama contest throughout National Library Week. We ask patrons to vote on their favorite one through our social media pages. By all means, you can share pictures of your own booked-themed creations from home! We'll also make fun short videos through the week using Peeps® to showcase our craft and cook books and kids books on Spring. Join our April ZOOM Book Discussions FICTION: APRIL 6 @ 6pm
