What is a Teacher Collection?
A Teacher Card is a barcode separate from your personal library card that allows you to checkout items for school use. In addition, you receive added benefits of no overdue fines, a 6 week loan period, and the standard loan limit of 99 items.
You apply for a Teacher Card at any location of the Marion Public Library in Marion, Caledonia, LaRue and Prospect. Teachers do not have to live or work in Marion County to apply. Teachers must present a valid photo ID and something to verify the Ohio school where they work as a teacher (pay stub, school ID etc.) Teacher cards will expire every June - you must come in and verify your contact information and proof of employment in order to reactivate your card for the next year.
Teacher Cards are for professional use only, not for personal or family items. Abuse of Teacher Card privileges will result in the cancelation of the Teacher Card. You are responsible for using the correct barcode label for teacher or personal items. You will be limited to 99 items (unless special requests are made in advance). As with all cards, we reserve the right to limit items on the topic if necessary. All circulating items except DVDs can be checked out on the card.
No. However, you will receive notices as with your regular card, either via email, text or mailed to your school address. If you choose email as your notification method, you will receive an email reminder two days before items are due. No overdue fines will be charged on items checked out to your teacher card, but items that are damaged or not returned to the library will be billed to your account. Items that are 3 weeks overdue will be charged to the account. This blocks the account until the items are returned, or paid for.
Yes. You may renew the items twice, if there are no reserves. You can renew items in person, online through your account, or by using the automated phone system: 740-387-0387
You are responsible for keeping your Teacher Card information up to date. If you change schools, phone numbers, or email addresses, be sure to notify the library.
A Teacher Collection is a set of materials on a particular topic that the library staff pulls together for you. Call 3 days in advance of the date you need the materials and we will gather the items you want, check them out to your Teacher Card, and hold them for you for pickup at the main desk. Please be specific and detailed in your request for materials. We will need to know the topic, reading level, and number of books desired.
