Community Read Event
featuring author Melody Warnick
Sunday, June 4 @ Marion Public Library
Join us for the culminating CommunityRead Event; an engaging discussion of the book with its author, Melody Warnick, that will kick off at 2:00 pm. We'll talk about how the book relates so perfectly to the MarionMade initiative, and how developing "place attachment" is critical for loving where you live.
Host Your Own Discussion!
Interested in keeping the discussion going on your own? Hosting your own gathering is easy to do, and you can make it as big or formal an event as you want! If you need more copies of the book, contact us at the Library and we can help you out.
Follow these basic guidelines to ensure your discussion flows and stays on a productive course:
- Designate a leader or moderator to keep things on track. Since you are hosting, this will probably be you!
- Have questions prepared, but only use them if the conversation starts stalling.
- Try to ensure everyone's voice is heard, but don't force reluctant speakers.
- Keep a balance between personal reflections and focusing on the book.
- Don't dwell on the negative. Acknowledge it, but move on to a new topic when things get unproductive.
